What is the Six Nations Championship?
The Six Nations Championship is an annual international men’s rugby tournament involving England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales. It stands as the world’s oldest international rugby competition, dating back to 1883.
It began as the Home Nations Championship and then took on the name Five Nations when France joined in 1910. It moved to its current six-team format in 2000 with the addition of Italy.
Each team faces the others once per season, resulting in 15 matches over five rounds. This format showcases Europe’s top rugby talent on a grand stage. England has claimed the most wins at 29 victories, with Wales close behind at 28.
France’s 18 titles are also remarkable, especially given they missed out on 35 of the tournament’s 127 editions.
