Standard Premium

• Standard Premium tickets are available as an additional fixed price paid upgrade on Standard Class tickets for the following routes; London to Milton Keynes (£12.50), London to Birmingham (£17.50), London to Manchester/Liverpool/Preston (£30), London to Glasgow/Edinburgh (£35). Exclusions and limitations apply.
• Standard Premium is available to book in advance via all bookable channels, including the Avanti West Coast website or app, or on the train via the Train Manager, with a valid Standard Class ticket, as well as all licensed Third Party Retailers.
• Standard Premium tickets are subject to availability and are only available on Avanti West Coast services running on Pendolino fleets, for which it is available on over 95%.
• It is not currently available on Voyager or Hitachi fleets.

• The price difference between a Standard Class advance ticket and Standard Premium advance ticket is on average 20% cheaper when booked at least 3 weeks in advance of your travel date when travelling between 25th July 2024 and 1st September 2024
• This promotion is available on over 90% of Standard Premium flows during this time period and includes main Standard Premium long distance flows, particularly those in/out of London Euston greater than 70 miles in distance, which represents over 90% of all Standard Premium journeys overall.
• This promotion is valid for advance ticket purchases only, up to 3 weeks before the selected travel date. Any Standard Premium purchases made with less than 3 weeks to the selected travel date, or made on the day of travel onboard the service, will be subject to the usual full price upgrade amount.

Standard Premium is a type of ticket that’s exclusive to Avanti West Coast. It is an upgrade from a Standard ticket to give comfier seats, extra legroom, a guaranteed table and window socket. It’s available on most Pendolino services, but booking (or upgrading) in advance is recommended.

Standard Premium upgrades are on top of the price of your Standard Class ticket. The upgrades range from £17.50 to £35 one way, depending on your journey length. You'll be offered an upgrade cost on the Avanti West Coast website or app, otherwise the Train Manager will be able to give you an accurate upgrade price on the day.

It's easy. You can buy a Standard Premium ticket for selected routes and dates when booking through our website and app.
You can also upgrade your ticket using My Account.

Alternatively, you can upgrade your ticket to Standard Premium whilst you're on the train – subject to availability. Just speak with your Train Manager and request to purchase an upgrade to Standard Premium.

Yes, you can book Standard Premium tickets in advance via our website or app.

Standard Premium is available on most services operated by our Pendolino trains. Standard Premium is not available on our Voyager trains which run to North Wales, Chester, and a limited number on our West Midlands and Scotland routes.

Standard Premium seats are located in coaches G to J on Pendolino services. Whether that’s at the front or the back will depend on which way the train is facing, but our staff will be happy to help. Check out the seating plan for more information.
