About Bullring Shopping Centre
The iconic Bullring Shopping Centre as we know it today opened back in 2003 with 137 stores. The 2003 Bullring replaced the original 1964 version which was demolished after 36 years.
The Bullring gets its name from its history of bull baiting. Before the practice was banned in 1835, it was a popular form of entertainment in the area. Birmingham kept the Bullring name and celebrated it with a 7ft bronze statue at one of the centre’s entrances. The Birmingham Bull is an iconic sight within the shopping centre.
Today, the Bullring is home to over 160 shops and a wide array of restaurants and bars. It is one of Birmingham’s many attractions that bring tourists and locals alike to enjoy the UK’s second city.
