About Holyhead Beach

Holyhead Beach is a small sandy beach, east of Holyhead Harbour. Maritime has a large part to play in this small port town’s history, so Holyhead’s beaches are interwoven with its culture and identity.

Holyhead’s history dates back to around 450 AD, so it’s no surprise that the area surrounding Holyhead Beach is home to a number of historical sites. Ancient burial mounds, Neolithic structures and churches are waiting nearby. St Cybi’s Church is a great example, which stands today on the site of a Roman fort.
