Getting from Stafford to London by train
Stafford is a town with a well-documented history stretching back more than a thousand years, and there’s
evidence of its greatness in the High House in the town centre, as well as the castle over to the west. The arrival
of the railways gave the town a boost in the 1800s, and it became an engineering works and mainline station, which
is why it’s so convenient a place from which to get to the capital to this day. Depending on the route, you might
pass through Birmingham, or take the eastern branch through Tamworth, re-joining the line north of Milton Keynes.
There’s so much to do in London, you probably don’t need too much of a reminder, but whether you love
history, pageantry, sporting events, theatre, cuisine or high culture, it’s the natural destination for families,
couples and other explorers. Take a boat trip on the Thames for an unconventional view of the city, or go up in the
London Eye to look down on it (or up at the Shard). Back on terra firma, when you’ve worked up an appetite, you can
head off to a wonderful Michelin-Starred restaurant or sample some street food at Borough Market, depending on your
budget.
