The Met Office has issued amber and yellow weather warnings for Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 January due to the snow, ice and freezing rain expected to affect much of Britain.
If you're travelling this weekend, there's a risk of disruption to your journey because of the weather. As such, we strongly recommend you plan ahead, allow extra time for your journey, and check before you travel at the link below.

The RMT strike action affecting Avanti West Coast on 31 December and 2 January has now concluded. Upcoming strikes are on Sundays from 12 January to 25 May 2025. On these dates, our timetables and operating hours will be significantly reduced and trains that do run are expected to be busy.
